‘CLEAN SWEEPS’ CLOTHING DRIVE
ANNUAL EVENT THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL
As soon as the February Sweeps are over, The Good News Foundation encourages the women of Los Angeles Television News to clean out their closets—and give those old anchor suits and reporter clothes new life by donating them to Dress 4 Success in our annual ‘Clean Sweeps’ Clothing Drive. In an attempt to make it easier to take the clothes off our backs and get them onto their racks, each television station has agreed to setvaside some space ‘perfectly suited’ to place the professional wardrobe pieces during our annual collection week.
The Dress 4 Success organization is well-known for providing suits to women returning to or entering the workforce. Each person who walks through their program receives one suit when she has a job interview—and additional apparel when she becomes employed. Although their mission has expanded, the suiting program remains a crucial part of their work and a vital first-step in a disadvantaged woman's journey toward self-sufficiency.
We just couldn’t think of a better way to un-load and give-back all at the same time… and we believe our long-term partnership with Dress 4 Success is a ‘perfect fit’! Read More

FALL FASHION FUNDRAISER

On Saturday afternoon, November 3rd, more than 350 guests, including television news anchors and reporters from every local news station in Los Angeles, as well as high profile attorneys and politicians, came together to help The Good News Foundation ‘take flight’ at its fall fundraising event, held at the exclusive Hangar 8 at the Santa Monica Airport. The awards ceremony hosted by Board of Directors of The Good News Foundation, highlighted the efforts of a number of remarkable and outstanding women who are working to make ‘good news’ here in greater Los Angeles. In addition to giving out $25,000 in grants and scholarships, all those in attendance at Hangar 8 at the Santa Monica Airport got to be part of ‘the’ moment -- when the doors of the airport hangar opened to reveal an OfficeMax truck parked outside, full of supplies for School on Wheels, a hard working, non-profit charity dedicated to helping homeless children. The OfficeMax donation totaled more than $20,000 and included brand new computers for the School on Wheels center that teaches kids along LA’s skid row. Stay tuned for information on how you can join in the fun at the next exciting event in Fall 2008!
